Essential Digital Signs and Clubhouse Updates You Need

Alan has belonged to the Cullen Links Golf Club for over 10 years. Earlier this year, the club requested help with various technology challenges, Digital Signs Clubhouse Updates. However, the latest of these requests came in two parts:
- Part 1: Install Digital signs in the clubhouse to make information to members and visitors more appealing.
- Part 2: Help the club advertise scores from their main annual open competition in the main clubhouse, on their new Digital Signs.
PART 1 – The Digital Signs
Because of experience gained through a prior installation of Digital Signage for another client in London – World of Golf, Alan was able to quickly pull together the detail required to have these installed.
With the purchase of a new commercial grade screen, 2 Raspberry Pi devices and the Yodeck Digital Signage software, because it was easy to implement, configure and use, the systems were up and running in no time.
PART 2 – The Clubhouse Updates
The key to this requirement was to make it easy for the committee. For example, for them to continue to update the information in the same excel worksheet. Additionally, this should support Digital Signs Clubhouse Updates in their standard working Excel spreadsheets. Alan’s initial action was to inspect the Excel workbook, and we created several worksheets to enable automatic updates for signage.
As a next step, Alan then used Glide-apps to create a prototype web app from the Digital Signage view. Once Alan had visualised it, with a sprinkling of AI assistance, he built it a tightly controlled environment.
Using various Linux tools, and with the excel spreadsheet uploaded to SharePoint, the real-time updates can now be access via URL. Below is the end result built directly onto the Laurel Icon Ltd Web-server.
